On Monday the 26th of February, we were lucky enough to take part in the VicSRC Student Voice Workshop out at Emerald Secondary College.
We got to meet and discuss a whole range of school issues with various student leaders from the outer east primary schools. Here are some of the key learnings we’ve walked away with from this day:
- We learnt the importance of empathy when making decisions as a school leader.
- We aren’t the only ones that are facing challenges to improve our school. Through collaboration, we can support and help each other through them.
- We were shown a great strategy called ‘ALTER’ that will help us increase our ‘Student Voice’ throughout the community.
- We worked together to acknowledge an area of the school we need to improve and identified the people we need to talk to, to start making a change.
The facilitators, Matty and Kate, really inspired us and helped us improve and focus on our leadership skills. It was a great experience for us and we are excited to implement our great ideas to the school.
