This term Prep A learned about the sound V; what it looks like, how it is written and what sound it makes. As part of a language writing experience, we made our own volcano. We used a bottle, bicarb soda, vinegar, food colouring and a little dash of dish soap. The students enjoyed watching it bubble over and used a range of different words to describe it, such as ‘frothy’, ‘colourful’ and ‘exciting’. Afterwards, the students went back to draw a picture and complete a recount of their experience. What a fun and engaging and engaging morning for our Preps!
Prep Mother’s Day Pamper Morning
On Friday 12th May our wonderful Prep mums, grandmothers, sisters and aunties attended our Mother’s Day Pamper morning. The prep students had a great time pampering their special visitors. We had a hairdressing salon, manicure station, massage parlour, craft/card making area and story time. Our ‘mums’ went home feeling very relaxed and looking absolutely gorgeous with their glamorous hair styles comprising of feathers, lace, pony tales and ribbons.
The morning concluded with our Prep students singing ‘I Love You’ to their mums and presenting them with their special Mother’s Day gift. There were a few tears shed during the singing and the mums loved their gift.
ANZAC Day with Prep AB
Anzac Day is a special day at Berwick Chase Primary School. It was the first time for our Preps to participate in the service.
Prep AB worked very hard doing their best work, putting together our
Our Preps enjoyed listening to the story of Anzac Ted. He kept the soldier company by reminding him of home while he was away defending his country.
We were so proud of the respect shown by our students during the Anzac
service and the laying of our wreath under the flag pole.
It has been a very busy month for our Prep students.
As a way of getting to know each other Prep students have been sharing their ‘All About Me’ bags. Each student was asked to bring 3 important items from home to share with their classmates. Students have brought a variety of items or photographs to school and have enjoyed showing their class mates as well as answering questions. This has been a great way for everyone to find information about each other.
It was a very exciting day when the Prep students participated in their first Berwick Chase Primary School Cross Country event. The weather was perfect for the cross country run and all the students had lots of fun, not only running in their race, but cheering and clapping other students. Some students were fortunate to have their parents cheering from the side of the oval too.
During the last week of term all prep students were very creative and made an Easter hat. This hat was proudly worn on the last day of school at assembly. All the school community cheered our prep students as they paraded around the hall.
Harmony Day saw many students at Berwick Chase Primary School dress up in a costume that represented and reflected their heritage and culture. Harmony Day is a day to celebrate the diversity in Australia. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. Students were also encouraged to wear the colour orange to represent Harmony Day and to show their support for cultural diversity.
Many of our prep parents attended the special assembly on this day.
At Berwick Chase Primary School, we aim to prepare our Prep students for a successful start to their education.
