Joshua – athlete extraordinaire!

On the 30th of October, 2017, I was lucky enough to compete at the Victorian school state sport track and field championships.

The previous competitions that I and my Berwick Chase friends got to compete in prior to this day were:

Athletics day

District athletics day

Divisional athletics day and

Regional athletics day.

You had to place at least 1st or sometimes 1st and 2nd at each event to qualify to compete in the next round.

So now, looking back, I guess it was more than just my luck to get to the State comp; it was also some of my hard work and training. At State, I was competing in the Boys 11 year old finals for Long jump and Triple jump.

On the day, as I walked onto the track, I felt incredibly nervous but also excited. Looking around at the other competitors, I was impressed by their quality of jumps, so I had to work pretty hard to keep up with them.  My hard work was able to get me a Bronze medal for triple jump and I placed 9th for long jump. I was so happy.

I can’t wait for next year……….
